Bahrain-based fun-lovin' rockers give us a funky 4-track debut.
As one of the most promising bands on the alternative rock scene in Bahrain at the moment, Doyoureallylikeit? seem to have been evolving steadily over the years, and on their debut EP, it’s evident that they’re getting closer to cracking that balance of genres that they’re melting together.
There’s an undeniable sense of funk and 90s alt-rock sound in the 4 tracks in this EP, evoking the memories of the likes Sixpence None the Richer – mostly thanks to the lovely vocals and soft rhythm guitars – and to a lesser extent Gin Blossoms.
Each of these tracks seems to travel between time and genres, with ‘Arcade Games’ being a favorite in its simple, dancey pop-rock vibe, and even the now trademark, playful rap bits of guitarist Abdulla Mahmoud is featured midway through ‘Something Sweet’.

It’s clear that the band is evolving – having gone through a couple of lineup changes – and being caught within the genres they find themselves interchanging between.
They have the energy and the approach to see them grow, they’ll just have to break those genre shackles and let their creative juices flow. But there’s enough here to suggest they’re building on the kind of brand that could see them go further.
Do we really like it? Heck yeah.

Very excited about this group's emergence. Very strong funky drive to the tunes; I love the way they strike a balance between being cute/clever and having artistic integrity. Go for the win!
